I had the honor of finishing off my seniors for this year by shooting this awesome senior from Victor's class of 2009. Not only is he an awesome football and hockey player for Victor, he is a true gentleman and just so much fun to be with. Of course I spent a little bit trying to convince him he should go to my alma mater, Cortland! It was on his list, and Cortland could use a student like Bryan!

Anyway, here are a few of my favorites. I just love these trains!

Wow! What a busy couple of weeks it has been! I am trying to get everything ready for the busy fall season and have been really involved in functions for Crew for a Cure, the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer team I participate on. We are heading to NYC this weekend to participate in the walk down there, and I can't wait!

I had the honor of shooting a friends 2 week old baby...this amazing little guy is the youngest of three brothers and is just the cutest little guy. Once he fell asleep I could have put him on his head and he would have stayed there. T was born with one clubfoot that they are correcting already with the cast you see in his pictures. It is funny because he could care less about the cast...he just goes with the flow! :)

Anyway, they have the most amazing house and my friend gave me free reign with my creativity...so you know you are in trouble! Cute baby + amazing house + friends = AWESOME PICTURES. :) I could show you so many, but here are a few of my favorites -

Again, I can't stress to you how much I count my blessings all of the time in the fact that I have the honor of working with some of the best families in my area. This weekend my second shoot was a Victor family that I just meet last week at Connor's school. They were so much fun and really allowed me to have fun and do some fun shots as well!

Like this one, which I titled "what it is like when you have three kids." :) I stagged this shot, but really, I have been waiting for the right family to do it with, this one was perfect!!

But seriously...they were an amazing family with three very photogenic little girls. Oh, and can I tell you how much I love brown? :) Here are a few more favorites -

This my friends was worth what seemed like 18 million hours in the car to get there. Watching the sunrise above the ocean with your children is something EVERYONE should be required to do at some point in their lives. It will always go down as one of the most amazing hours of my life. So glad I could document the moment like this.

Being a Mom is just awesome. :)

For those who ordered prints right before my vacation or during my vacation the order went in early this morning! I hope to have them by the end of this week and to you at some point this weekend.

Oh, and did you know there are only 4 more days till school starts...but who is counting?

Vacation I go!

After work today I am leaving on a much needed vacation down to Hilton Head to take family pictures of a good friend on the beach and then back up to Myrtle Beach for a week there. I am not exactly sure when I will return...some time over Labor Day weekend!

For those who have put your print order in, I plan on ordering your prints one of the last days of my vacation so they are waiting here for me when I return. I hope to have them out to you Labor Day week. Thank you for your patience! I don't want pictures sitting on my porch when I am not here.

At my last session before my vacation I had the honor of working with another one of Victor's brightest and best. Seriously...this girl was amazing. For those who know me, you know that I have thing for Irish dancing...I even tried taking an adult class when we moved back up here about 4 years ago. The fact that I am not taking it any more is a pretty good indication that I should really leave the Irish dancing up to beautiful girls like this one. :)

I thought she was absolutely beautiful...so natural (which I LOVE!)...and I just know that someday we are all going to hear her name again doing BIG things. :)

August seems to be senior month! I had such a great time hanging around the village of Pittsford with this awesome senior last weekend. We really lucked out weather wise and made the most of a beautiful Saturday morning on the canal! I am have been really impressed with all of the seniors I have had the honor of working with this year...they are all so much fun and SO intelligent!!

I know...I am breaking one of my rules and going out of order with my processing, but only for a couple of sneak peaks!! How could I download this amazing little guy without showing him off?

I had the honor of shooting this amazing little guy this morning and boy was he amazing! He slept through the entire session and never made a peep and let me really just position him however I wanted to. Thank you C and K for being such amazing parents (and patient ones too! I owe you!)....he is beautiful and you are really blessed with an amazing little boy!

Yesterday afternoon after my senior I shot in the morning I was asked by my friends and neighbors to come down to their house to take pictures of her beautiful children all dressed up for the wedding they were in!

Okay...I would be completely lying if I told you I wasn't tired. :) I am. This week was a busy week at my full time job during the way and today I just finished my 5th photo shoot of the week. It isn't usually like this, but with vacation just days away I am trying to get everyone in before I leave!

It is senior week this week and boy is it a lot of fun! Those who have had shoots with me can understand that not having to dance, make animal noises and balance things on my head while taking pictures is kind of refreshing. :)

Anyway, last night I had the honor of doing senior pictures for my neighbor and my dog sitter! She is a Victor Class of 2009 senior and just as awesome as ever. We had the best time together and followed up the shoot with dinner at Denny's!

Anyway, there are more to come, but I couldn't resist these three when I was downloading!

Busy Photo Shoot Weekend!

With vacation just about 10 days away it is a really busy week for photo shoots! The forecast didn't look great for the weekend, but mother nature took care of us and I got in both of my scheduled photo shoots!

Both families I had done photo shoots before with, so as always it was great to see how much the kids had grown up!

Beyond "Cheese!"

A very special thank you to all of you that attended the Beyond "Cheese!" class that I hosted last weekend. We had such a great time together. It was a joy to meet and spend the morning with all of you!

Even with the weather playing tricks on us, we learned a lot, got to eat chocolate, take pictures, and eat cake!

This cake was actually not "Cheese" cake, but a cake in the shape of cheese to match the theme of the class.

What is a class without gifts? Attendees went home with a bag of chocolate, materials, a magnet, and hopefully a knew knowledge of photography.

I have been asked quite a few times already when I will be hosting another class. My guess is in the January/February time frame.

Again, thank you to each and every one of you for your participation! I loved it!

It is funny to think that we really do have a beach right here in Rochester. I had a family that requested a shoot last weekend on the beach of Lake Ontario. I was so excited about shooting at this location and being able to spend time with a family that I did on one of my first shoots! They are so much fun to hang out with!

They even let me play a bit with this fun shot done with my fisheye lens.

This beautiful little girl is actually CJ's Kindergarten teacher's daughter. She was such an amazing teacher and I have totally had a blast watching this little girl grow up as her photographer!

Yankee Stadium

My oldest son, CJ, has been REALLY upset that they are taking down the old Yankee Stadium with they move into the new one next year. It is funny how young and old, Yankee Stadium means so much to so many.

Tickets to see a game were on the top of his birthday list, but we didn't think we were going to be able to take him and we told him that. Every night he watched a game on TV with his Dad he would go to sleep crying because he wasn't going to see Yankee Stadium before they tore it down. I thought at first it was a one time thing, but it kept happening night after night and each time it just killed Chris and I.

So when Chris' father's birthday party was planned for Saturday night and we knew the Yankee's were going to be home we started hunting for tickets for Friday night.

Well...just last week we ended up getting 2 sets of 2 off of e-bay for a total of $200.00. That seems like so much, but really because this is the last season in that stadium, that price is REALLY good.

We didn't tell the boys anything. On Friday afternoon we piled them in the van and told them that Mommy needed to go to a camera store (they were NOT happy about this idea!). We drove down to the stadium and when we got there Chris said something like "look to your left" and there is was. At first CJ thought we were just driving by it, but we when told them they were actually GOING to the game they were so excited!!

It amazes me how connected CJ was to this place. It is really sad they can't leave it up. There is FAR too much history in this place for them to take it down...but I am sure new memories will be made in the new stadium.

Anyway, I captured the whole night using my new fisheye lens. I am sure this picture will be blown up big on their wall very soon!

Victor Class of 2009

Seriously...this girl is going to graduate from Victor high school and do big things. Not only is she one of the prettiest girls I have ever seen, she also is super intelligent! I picked her up on Saturday and just her and I (this works GREAT with seniors!) hung around Victor for a few hours. I asked her how her schedule looked her senior year and she is taking a ton of AP classes! Amazing!

Not only is she beautiful, she is kind and polite and I hope that my boys grow up to be just as awesome as she is.

For those who are saying..."How do I know her?" She works at Papa Jacks! Victor's favorite hang out!

Anyway, Congratulation's Erika! You are one special young woman!

Yesterday was a busy day! Two photo shoots that started early in the morning to do our best to avoid the heat that was hitting upstate NY yesterday!

Have I told you I just love my weekend job? I seriously love what I do. I get to spend my weekends with families that are just so fun and amazing to work with. I get to watch kids grow up right before my eyes.

It seems like it was just yesterday when the little boy on the right was on CJ's t-ball team and the little girl in the middle was born. Now look at them. :)

Anyway, I started the day right with this amazing family. It might go down as one of my favorite shoots ever.

Isn't this little girl just the cutest thing ever? She is only 20 months old and is already talking up a storm!

This shot just makes me laugh. His father was holding him upside down while his brother watched.

This little guy was SO cute too. He had some beautiful blue eyes!

I hope everyone is enjoying their summer! Just a couple of thoughts as I enter into my busiest time of the year.

First of all...the not fun stuff.

Just a reminder that session fees are due within 10 days of receipt of contract to hold your session date. I currently have a waiting list for shoots for 2008, so if session fees are not paid, your shoot date may be given to a family on this list.

Okay...I got that over with. :)

Now for the fun stuff!

I still have 3 spots open for my Beyond "Cheese!" class! It will be held at Springdale Farm Bed and Breakfast in Victor on August 2nd from 8:30-12:30. Can you say FRESH baked muffins??? Eileen Cash, the owner of Springdale is AMAZING. You don't want to miss this!

Tonight I was able to photograph the fireworks at Cobblestone Creek Golf Club here in Victor. They were amazing! I have been wanting to play with my camera with fireworks forever, so tonight was the night!

My shoot this past weekend was with this awesome family from Victor. They had three kids and all of them were a lot of fun!

I returned to one of my favorite spots to shoot! These fence on the corner of Gillis and Cobble Creek Road is awesome!

I don't know what it is about the end of the school year that makes life so crazy, but as hard as you prepare, it always seems to be the same way.

I am trying to catch up on my processing. I thought for sure I would have this shoot done by now, but I just finished it! I thought I would show off a few more from this shoot since the two boys were just so cute!

Storyboards are such an awesome way to show off multiple pictures on one place. They can come all different sizes, but the typical size is 10x20. They are mounted and can be framed or hung just as is. I try to design at least one with every shoot, but if you would like something different designed there is an option for custom designed storyboards in the ordering system. You can even pick your own pictures!

What is it?
Tired of looking at blurry pictures and wondering if it is your eyes going bad or your camera? Do you find yourself looking at your camera totally confused wondering what Av or Tv or that little green box is? Can’t figure out how in the heck you get your pictures off your digital camera and to Grandma? Beyond “Cheese!” can help! This class is for BEGINNERS* who want to learn more about their digital camera (point and shoot or D-SLR), shooting subjects and post processing after the shoot.

What is so fun about this class?
First of all. it will be taught by Kristin Williams of Kristin Williams Photography from Victor, NY and is limited to 7 “cheese heads”. Get ready for four hours of instruction, fun and laughs with the following planned schedule:

8:30-10:30 AM - Coffee and food (nothing can be fun without food) and then off to the classroom for topics such as aperture, shutter speed, ISO, different types of cameras, exposure, metering, megapixels, picture types, etc..

10:30-11:15 - Bring your camera because we will be shooting outside around the Village of Victor with kids (aka models). We will talk about lighting, positioning, composition, etc..

11:15-12:30 - Back to the classroom for some post processing fun! Now that I have all of these pictures how to I get them off of my camera? Is there a way I can edit them on my computer? How do I e-mail them to Grandma or store them online?

30 Days AFTER - Open question and answer opportunity with Kristin as you take some of what you learned at Beyond “Cheese!” and put it into practice at home.

How much is all of this going to cost me?
$85.00. That is like ONE tank of gas (okay, a little more)! You will go home with a boat load of instructional material, a whole new set of tools to improve your pictures and an open 30 day window for questions and answers with a professional photographer!

I had the honor of shooting a friends sister and her family from Michigan on Sunday morning and it was such an honor to meet them. They had two little boys, this amazing little guy that just made me laugh -

I filled up my last two open sessions of 2008 in the last 24 hours. Thank you!

Just as I did last year, I will start a waiting list for the rest 2008. If a session opens up, I will start at the top of the waiting list and work my way down. I am considering adding a couple of additional shoots in the summer and fall based on the boys schedules, so if you are interested, please contact me as soon as possible to get your name on the list.

If you are interested in a shoot for 2009, I will begin a "waiting list" for those shoots as well. Pricing for 2009 has not been finalized yet, but I hope to get that done shortly because families are already asking to book for 2009.

I love feedback....all of it. I love hearing from my clients what they think of my pictures. I love seeing my clients faces when I deliver their prints.

Why? Because it keeps my going through the long nights of processing. It encourages me to move forward. It proves to me WHY I am a photographer. I want to capture families as they are so that they will never forget that moment. I love working with the families that I have been honored to meet through my business.

This morning I received the e-mail below from a client I did a shoot with last weekend. Her amazing little boy is above. I seriously cried reading it it meant that much to me. I love what I do. I know that I couldn't do it without each and every one of you....so thank you! Thank you for taking the time to share your feelings on my work. Thank you for the e-mails that I get from complete strangers saying how much they enjoy my work. Thank you to all of you who see me around town at functions and take the time to tell me how much you enjoy my web site or love looking at the blog. I am humbled by all of it.

Anyway, thank you to the Hopson family for your awesome e-mail. It really made my day.

I am taking a little break on my lunch from my full time job to blog some pictures that are long overdue!

Last Thursday night I had the honor of shooting another newborn here in my home studio. This little guy was 3 weeks old and was just so alert and strong for only 3 weeks! We finally got him to go to sleep at the end, I don't think he wanted to miss anything!

His parents were just such awesome people, so fun to have here in my house for a night. They were saying that he always sleeps with his hands over his head. They were right! I thought it was so cute!

It was so nice to meet you Zack and Christine! Your new bundle of joy is just so amazing! Thanks for sharing him with me!

Weekend Photo Shoot

I had just one photo shoot this weekend because one of my scheduled newborns decided to hang out in her Mom a little bit longer then expected.

Really, with the heat, it was a good thing. I had to shoot this family bright and early on Sunday morning to avoid the 90 degree temperatures that we had all weekend long. This is the first time I had done a shoot with this family and we went to Powder Mill park to a location I had gone to so many times before. This time with the heat, the bugs were horrible! Really, this whole family were all troopers with the heat and the bugs...so thank you!!

Anyway, I had a joy of working with two of the cutest little kids. I had a great time with all of you!

Once in a while I get to shoot my other love....dogs! Our good friends got a new puppy this past week and I was able to snag a couple of shots of "Pepper" because really, dogs grow up too fast too!!

Pepper is a Shitz Zu and is 10 weeks old and just a ball of soft fur!

I spent Sunday morning hanging out in the village of Victor with one of my friends 3 boys. She has twins that are in junior high and then a sophomore in high school. We walked all over the place and really had a great time together. What a great backdrop for pictures! Thanks for being so much fun and such good sports!

This spring I have had the honor of shooting a bunch of newborns and I have a few more coming! Yesterday I had the honor of photographing my smallest newborn so far! Yesterday was her due date, but she made an early appearance about 2 weeks ago.

5 lbs is just so tiny. She was beautiful!!

At the end of the shoot Daddy took his little girl and I was able to capture this moment in the natural light coming in the door.

I have had the joy of shooting this little one a few times now and each time she has gotten bigger and bigger! This shoot was such a joy. I know I have said this 1000 times here, but it is so much fun to watch my clients grow up right before your eyes. I usually shoot her in the studio, and now that she is really moving, it was great to get outside! She totally was cracking me up!!

Anyway, it was great to see you again yesterday!

I normally don't post too much personal stuff on this blog, but this weekend is a big weekend for me.

I am participating in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer this weekend with a team that I created back in August for my friend Christy. Together we will walk 39 miles and have raised over $43,000.00 to help find a cure!

Here is my tribute to her...

I took this picture on August 21st. It was my good friend Christy's second chemo treatment for breast cancer. She was diagnosed on July 13th, 2007. We cried that night. We drank wine.

The next day...this smile was there. It stayed there. Through 8 rounds of chemo. Through a double mastectomy. Through weeks of radiation.

Christy looks a little bit different now. Her hair is short. Her breasts are smaller. Her heart and soul will be forever touched by a disease that she courageously fought and beat.

We are all different though. When you say it was an "honor" to be with her on her journey through it treatments people look at you funny. It was a honor.

There are so many people that Christy helped make better people by her courage. By her desire to share her story. By her strength. We all are a bit different because of her.

Through Christy's Crew and our fundraising efforts to help find a cure; the world will be different.

I can't believe the walk is FINALLY here!

My first newborn of the season decided to make an early appearance! I was scheduled to do the photo shoot for her on May 10th, but this little one had something different in mind! She was 5 days old today and I swear each time I work with a newborns it really reminds you what little miracles they are. Welcome to the world I!

This was a shoot that I had booked over a year ago for a family I have had the privilege of doing a photo shoot with a few times already. This time because of Ali's first communion, the whole family was in town, so we did some great family pictures of everyone. It was a joy to work with all of you!! Auhhh....we are back from vacation! Like everyone else, those first 24 hours back from vacation are always fun. I had 100's of e-mails to read, 10 messages, mail, laundry...you know.

We had a great time! I did end up getting a few pictures of the boys to update my walls. Believe me, the boys don't let me take too many pictures of them without a good bribe!

It is so exciting to finally get outside and start my photo shoots! We really lucked out with the weather today for my first photo shoot of the season. It was 60 + here in Rochester today!

And there is nothing better than starting your season with a family you know. These two little boys went to CJ and Connor's day care center, and I have been lucky enough to do a few different photo shoots with them.

As many of you know, I have started scheduling my sessions for 2008.

It has been so nice catching up with all of my 2007 clients scheduling 2008 shoots.

I only have 14 available shoots left for 2008 and those have been added to the calendar on my web site. All shoots are scheduled on a first come first serve basis and once all of the sessions are full, families will be put on a waiting list in case of cancellation or in the event that additional shoots open up.

If you are interested in a 2008 shoot, don't wait to schedule it. I anticipate the open session times to fill up in the next couple of weeks.

It brings me so much joy to do "repeat" shoots for clients. This is actually two repeat clients in one! The mothers of these 4 children are also sisters and I was lucky enough to do photo shoots with them both this past summer.

They decided to do an Easter shoot together and I just LOVE the outfit that they picked out. Perfect in every way!

First of all, thank you to ALL of the wonderful families that braved this crazy Rochester weather and came to my new home studio to hang out with me and the bunnies!

I really had a great time watching all of the kids interact with the bunnies, and I tell you what, the bunnies were very patient and kind to all of the kids as well.

I will be sure to post some sneak peaks as I process them this week, but I couldn't resist not showing this shot of this adorable little girl from my first shoot today.

I am very excited to announce that I will be hosting a special Easter Photo Shoot Celebration on Saturday March, 1st at my home studio here in Victor complete with LIVE bunnies!

The discounted session fee for these special 30 minute mini-shoots is $25.00. Within one week of your shoot, each family will receive 10-20 proofs in an online proof gallery.

LIVE!!! I have not been this excited about something in a LONG time. I have put hours and hours into getting my new site up and running, and I am so excited to share it with all of you!! A special thank you to Ashely Gramins who sings the version of "These are the Days" that you hear on my site. I e-mailed her a couple of months ago asking her if I could use this song on my new web page thinking she would NEVER even read my e-mail, but also knowing I had nothing to lose. Not only did she respond, she gave me permission to use the song, and had a bunch of great things to say about my work. It really started this whole "new look" project off on the right foot. Thank you, Ashley for allowing me to share your incredible voice with others.

Another special thank you to all of my friends and family who "beta" tested my new site. I can't thank you enough for all of your love, support, and feedback.

Finally, thank you to all of the amazing families I have met on this awesome ride I have been on the last 18 months. You have all touched me in some way, and I am so lucky to have spent time with each and every one of you. I hope you enjoy seeing your story play out on my new site.

A couple of months ago I was contacted by a newspaper in Austria regarding a picture that I took at a game last year of Thomas Vanek of the Buffalo Sabres. They asked permission to use the picture in a newspaper interview with him.

I released the rights of the picture to them, but asked that they send me a copy so I can have it,. Yesterday I got my copy. Of course I can't read any of it because it is in the Austrian language, but it is great to see my name next to the picture in print.

If only we could get Thomas Vanek to score more goals!

For $85.00 you will receive a mini 30 minute studio session in my home studio. Within 5 days of your shoot you will receive 10-20 proofs in an online proof gallery. From those proofs you will be able to order your portraits and then as an added bonus you will be able to pick 3 custom created valentine templates and receive 25 4x5.5 flat press printed Valentines on linen paper with envelopes. The sitting fee and cards normally cost $115.00, so you save over $30.00!

What a great way to start the year - a photo shoot, the Ice Bowl, and family!

My brother and his 5 kids are in town from Texas and I never pass up the opportunity to get out my camera and take a few shots of their kids. Unlike my kids, they still like the camera!

Anyway, I want to take a minute to wish all of you a Happy New Year and thank you for just an amazing 2007. I am humbled by all of the response I have had in the past year to my business, and I am so excited to share with you all of the new things that are going to happen in 2008!

The first change you will see is to my web site, blog, and ordering system. I present to you a totally new look, colors, and a whole bunch of new products!
